Lawfully Yours: One Year On - How Our Podcast Came to Life and What We’re Here to Do

Every podcast has an origin story. Some begin with a marketing plan, others with a brand strategy, and a few with a simple spark. A conversation that makes you think, “People need to hear this.” Lawfully Yours was born from that spark.
It began with honest discussions about the legal world, the people in it, and the stories that rarely get told. Conversations about the realities of practice, the pressures behind the scenes, the unexpected paths into law, and the human moments that shape careers.
And crucially, it began with collaboration between me and a brilliant family lawyer, Geraldine Watson who I am proud to say is also a dear friend and my podcast co‑host. Our professional worlds are different, but our values align: authenticity, transparency, and a genuine desire to show the human side of the legal profession.
Together, we created Lawfully Yours.
And now, one year later, we’re celebrating just how far it has come.
Where the idea came from
The seed for the podcast was planted long before the first episode. Working in litigation and consulting with legal firms, I’ve spent years hearing stories that never make it into glossy firm profiles or LinkedIn announcements. Stories of resilience, burnout, reinvention, humour, heartbreak, and everything in between.
Geraldine, a family lawyer with her own rich, complex experiences, had the same observation. We’d talk about the realities of practice and say things like:
“Why does no one talk about this”
“People think law is one thing, but it’s so much more”
“Imagine if others could hear what we hear every day”
It became obvious that the legal world is full of voices worth hearing. Not just the high‑profile names but the everyday professionals who keep the system moving, who care deeply about their clients, and who have lived experiences that deserve a platform.
So we built one.

Lawfully Yours didn’t start with a studio or a production team. It started with authenticity. Two legal professionals, two microphones, and a shared commitment to creating a space where people could speak openly.
